So to make a long story short.... I built my own bass over the past 6 weeks. (very cool experience!!) Right after I finished the build I started noticing a foul smell coming from my studio. I feared the worse since the room is directly under the condensing unit in the attic, I figured it was leaking water and causing mold. The smell was similar to a moldy musky earthy smell. Well the unit was not leaking thankfully. The following 4 days after work I would still smell this moldy earthy aroma and started digging around and looking for the culprit. No culprit found....That was until I smelled my fingers!! My fingers smelled like moldy musky earth! BUT WHHYYY?? And I had just finished jamming on my newly built bass. So i went up and smelled my bass neck, and it was stinky!! It appears my Teak Neck from Warmoth is a little stinky. Research has also shown me that most Teak wood has a earthy musky aroma. So before you buy Teak, be aware of this!! Other than being stinky Teaky, i couldn't be happier with the build. So what's the lesson here??? If your fingers are a little stinky, go smell your Teaky!!
