I watched this last night for the first time at the urging of my wife. She said to me, 'you like trivia and these guys from Jeopardy. I think you'll like this show'.
She was right, I did like it.
Holzhauer was the chaser last night. By far and away my favorite part of the show was listening to him explain the answers he gave to the questions. I knew he was a smart guy, but figured some of his success was related to the big risks he took as well as just cramming for the Jeopardy appearances. That too, but dang me that guy is smart.
Has anyone else checked it out?

Not a big fan of quiz shows usually, but I've enjoyed the Chase. The presenter seems like a nice guy, doesn't make it all about himself.
The Chasers also don't take themselves too seriously and I've seen them be very gracious in both victory and a rare defeat.

A woman was hosting the episode I watched. Is it usually a man? Maybe a different version in other parts of the world? They did mention in the episode last night about a British guy who goes by 'The Beast' coming to the show.

You are absolutely correct, the host is Sara Haines. I was just googling...

Sara is a great host. She kept the game moving along with the right mix of her personality, the players, and the chasers.
Holzhauer comes off a bit conceited, but I suppose he has a right to be in this context. He was also funny and respectful to the players. He had an uncanny ability to know immediately which players were a threat to him.

I've been a big fan of "The Chase" ever since it was The Beast (Mark Labett) with Brooke Burns as the host. I also like this version.

Labett is going to join Ken, James, and Brad as one of the chasers in Season 2. That'll be 4 very formidable "chasers".

As for Sara, she's good, but IMO Brooke was awesome. The main difference I've noticed is that Brooke was fantastic about reading the questions EXTREMELY fast (yet clearly) in the lightning round ("final chase"). Sara doesn't read the questions as quickly as Brooke. That extra speed really gave the players a chance to answer more questions. In fairness, she's reading at the same rate of speed for both the contestants and the chaser. But I still prefer Brooke.

Jumping shows for a minute, I thought Mayim Bialik did a great job on "Jeopardy!" today.
