I understand that these beauties don't come with a tone control, just the 2 volumes. How are you finding that?
I really fancy a good passive P/J with a Fender vibe, but there don't seem to be many available in the UK.

awesome! those are great basses. my buddy has an older one that i would kill for. i think the SB-2 is one of the best sounding basses ever made.

Ooh that's reel purdy. I really do like green on a bass (says he who doesn't have one anymore). I like the mod too, makes complete sense and has a '62 Jazz vibe going for it.
The bass is much more attractive in person. The Green is deep and has a nice sheen to it. The pearloid guard makes it pop. It's known around here as "Me Irish Bass."
The tone mod is nice, and worth having if you like to go for a dull, old-shool motown vibe. Otherwise, I don't think it's necessary.
As for the Jazz vibe, it's there in some ways, but totally misses it in others. I wouldn't suggest it as a Jazz replacement if you want a jazz tone. The neck pup also isn't just like a Precision, nor is the bridge pup an exact Jaco thing. It's in the neighborhood, but very different if you compare it directly to those Fender counterparts. It really is something on it's own. A very nice bass indeed!

I think you'll be happy with it. It sits perfect in a mix just as it is. Unless you really like a dark, muffled old-school sound, you don't need the tone knobs IMO.
