Ok all you guys are going to think I've lived a very sheltered life, although I do like Les Claypool's bass playing (not singing), but two of my favorite bassists right now are Brian Marshall formerly of Creed and Bruce Gordon of I Mother Earth. Both of them have really cool bass lines that I find are a challenge to learn because they don't just follow the guitar exact. Right now I am trying to learn Pity For a Dime by Creed and Raspberry by I Mother Earth. Since I'm fairly new I would like to know if some of the more experienced players here agree with me.

Not in any particular order tho. Actually Mr. East just recently got in to my fav-list right after I saw Claptons latest video. Very stylish slapping there.

At the time I posted this, I haden't got that much into his playing. Now that I have.. I feel much greater loss.

i love the bass playing of Blind melon/unified theory/his own solo stuff Brad Smith, i think hes great, i love the way his lines just fit perfect....

no one mentioned mingus, i love mingus, i also like jaco a lot, not a fan of his tone though(i expect to get things thrown at me for that remark). and i really likeThe Wailers bassist, family man right?

Is Alec John Such a decent player? He seems to be sort of a run-of-mill bass player>
