I run mine at 8 with my 410 Neo, and 4 with my 610 Neo. Hanging to unleash this amp again...
Both amazing rigs - but the one on the right lost out to the mighty SB300/610 Neo combination
so … it's finally time for a power tube replacement. Was wondering what folks are using besides the stock GT's? And am I right in assuming a wide-bodies 6550 like the Tung-Sol won't fit?
And I've been toying with the idea of using Tube Amp Doctor 6550s. Any opinion of these tubes

Haven't changed mine, so dunno for sure. These days it seems like going with a reputable seller is at least as important as the tubes themselves.
Hello! I finally bought a SB with a neo610 i’ll be putting against my old neo 410. I got a really good deal and sold a lot of my stuff to get it. 
One question though..
I noticed a quite big difference in background noise between the channels. The vintage is (almost) dead silence but the overdrive channel has a significant amount of noise that i can affect with the tone shaping controls. (Storm effects by sweeping the frequency knob for example.) Blend, Gain and Volume is at one, even though the background noise is not affected by moving them around.
Is this normal procedure or is my amp defective in some sense?
It wont make a difference in a live environment but in the studio it’s quite noticeable.

Did the amp ship to you? I would check the preamp tubes to make sure they are seated properly.
Yes, they did and that was my first thought too so I changed tubes with som spares and the noise is still there.
It might just be some nerves from the huge investment i did. It might be different out of my living room.
Still it sounds like white noise is produced and amplified somewhere along the way. (Nothing is plugged in to the amp btw.)
On another note. This thing sounds mental! The vintage channel is one of the best bass sounds I’ve ever had! Pure gold! The overdrive channel needs some getting to know but I’m already getting some really nice stuff coming from it!
Regarding the cabs. The neo 410 is a completely different thing than the neo 610! The 410 sounds scooped and maybe a bit boomy while the 610 is really mid precent, really detailed. It seems to have a little less, but more controlled, low end. Both sounds great but the same setting on the amp yields really different tones. Awesome but it makes it harder to choose which one to sell. The 610 does even fit into my tiiiiny car. (Toyota aygo )

I think I would have noticed tho.
As suggested, I would be swapping the pre amp tubes around, or with some known good ones (FWIW I put NOS Raytheon 5751's in [I think V1 & V2] in mine).
The OVERDRIVE channel, and especially the DRIVE itself, is very responsive to the MID FREQUENCY and MID LEVEL controls. I put the MID FREQ on about 2 or 3(on the dial) and bump it's level up around 6 - 8 which will make my OD tone a tad thicker...imo. (The 5751 tube seemed to smooth out the OD a li'l too.... tho this was in about 2013, so, I could be remembering almost anything else in my life

I run my Channel volume on the vintage channel at 7, match the volume with the Overdrive channel and then use the Master for over all volume.Thanks! Can you run a 4 and a 8 ohm cab together with this amp? ...No, i have to sell one and my wife prefers the 610!
Just a question that may not belong on this thread. I have played the 6 string treble guitar since I was 12 y/o. There's simply no debate about tubes sounding better than solid state. However I play bass as well and currently own the Rumble 500w 210 combo with 210 extension. I am Ok with the sound but can't help but wonder if tube bass amps would have that "organic" sound that tube guitar amps have. Or should I simply be happy with the Rumble. I'm GASsing for that SB300. Of note; back in the 80's I had a 100w tube bass amp which I and everyone else loved. I miss it.
