The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Oh BTW, I have been running this with the following settings...
Everything on 6. Hot channel blend on 2. Front end volumes as high as I can get depending on bass to match levels. Master as needed. I run passive basses in input1 with the bright/deep engaged and active basses in input 2 with the bright/deep disengaged. I haven't tried it with all my baases yet, these settings are with a vintage passive warwick streamer (German made) and an active Corvette Rockbass (NOT made in Germany)

I have played mine once with the standard 410HLF I keep in our rehearsal space and it sounded great. It controlled the extra low end of the HLF nicely, although I IRC it needed the extra EQ of the overdrive channel to get the best match. It was a while ago now.

Thanks! That neo 2x15 stack looks quite nice, how does it sound? I'm guessing quite nice as well.

haha, probably good advice! And you are right, I really don't think I could do better. After years and years of playing a p-bass through just about every imaginable set up, this is the one. The only thing I liked almost as much sound wise was an early 70s SVT I had for several years, until it nearly electrocuted me and then blew up during a show! Big cloud of smoke and all. I do not miss lugging that thing around.

The 2 x 115s sound GREAT !!! I've also got a sealed 4x12'' - Bergantino NV412- that's fantastic as well. The Neo 115 Bassman cabs are really nice. One x 115 with the Super Bassman is really nice too-allowing the Super Bassman to be Cranked a li'l harder.
The 2 cabs get nice n loud but still have a heap of clarity.
You're right- a P bass thru the Super Bassman is unreal. Can't be beat in my opinion.

Open it up and measure the internal dimensions. They may have used thicker wood for the the cabinet. Either that or look for a brick shaped package wrapped in duct tape. :D

That's a significant difference, especially when the whole point of neo cabs is being lighter! I will be interested to hear the outcome of this one as it is unusual to return on the grounds of weight. Had a similar issue a few years ago with an RCF 118 sub in the PA where one was hugely heavier than the other. We could never figure it out - pulled them apart and both seemed to have identical components etc. so I suppose it had to be the wood in some way.

I gigged Saturday night with my Tecamp Puma 900 and Sunday afternoon with the SB 300, both times with the Neo 410 cab. Now, let me say that the Tecamp Puma 900, which I recently acquired and have gigged with three times in the last few weeks, has rapidly become my favorite solid state amp ever. I just adore the tone and design. But Sunday's B side of the weekend A/B comparison really wasn't a fair fight. There simply is nothing like tubed Big Iron. The weight and authority of every note with the SB 300 is a beautiful thing. I don't always enjoy schlepping it, and won't at some venues with unusually challenging load-ins, but the amp thrills me every time I use it.

And a word about the Neo 410, which I've owned for a year and a half now. I'm a fan of 410s, and this is the last one I ever will own. It sounds great, looks fabulous with the matching amp and, most of all, the light weight is ridiculous.
