The four or the five stringer?

Hey everyone,

At first i was looking for a 5 string bass and i came up with the Fernandes gravity 5 deluxe. But then i tested a Fender American standard Precision bass 4 stringer and thought it was great too. I already have a Fender aerodyne P-bass so i already have the sound of a p and i was actually looking for a 5 stringer.

What would you do, buy the Fernandes gravity deluxe or the Fender American standard P-bass?

I'm NOT trying to give you advice,but I played a Carvin B4 for years,and thoroughly enjoyed it. Finally the day came that I had saved enough money to get another bass. I was SOLD on Carvin,so I took a good long look at what to get. I settled fo an XB75PF bass and ordered it. It took me a short time to get used to it,but once I did,I was VERY happy with it. I LOVE the sound of the low B string,and I use it a LOT in our Country-Country Rock sound.That's just me...I know I enjoy the 5...maybe you would too.

Get the a 5 string, but get it used. Why pay full price when you don't have to?

Well what are you looking for? Do you play in any groups that need that low B? The Aerodyne's, while fender, have a bit more modern sound than a regular P-Bass. Are you looking for a modern sound 5 string?

Quality wise I would put an American fender over the Fernades. If you are really interested in a good 5'er I would keep saving and keep looking out for a nice one.

If you have an Aerodyne, don't buy an American Standard P... unless it is a P5.

A P5 is passive, sounds like a P... but with a low B string.

Amazing instrument IMO and approx the same price used as an American Standard P4..
