The Fulltone GT500 has shipped

i bought one a week or so ago. it ROCKS.

besides all the great features everyone knows about (order switch, two pedals in one, extensive EQ options....), this thing kicks butt in the tone category (for some- it obviously won't please everybody. what piece of gear does?). on the one side, you get a nice, FAT, warm boost with available drive for fullness and spice. on the other side, you've got a very versatile high gain distortion/boost (both sides give you up to 25dB of boost). putting the boost first gets you even MORE gain when both sides are activated; putting the distortion first yields your distortion sound, but LOUDER (and fatter, if you so choose).

the whole pedal cranks out oodles of lows, so no worries there. the "highs" control on the "Fat-Boost" side is a treble-cut type of control. the "mids" control on the distortion side is a wah-pedal inductor... which means you get a sweepable and tight notch filter to help you hone in on the frequencies you need to cut through a mix.

i'm still getting to know the little beast, but so far it's amazing.

I really like that knob on the top. Changing what'd go first (boost or distortion) seems awesome.

Still, you'll probably see me with a Bassdrive Mosfet on my board, you got to hand it to Mike Fuller, his pedals seem to get the job done better than most of what's out there.

to me, it's not a question of sterility (or maybe it is, i don't know...) but of perfection. Fulltone effects are too perfect. when an effect is too perfect, it lacks The Mojo that we all crave.

now, "too perfect" isn't bad, per se... i just really miss The Mojo when it isn't there.

that being said, i really like the GT-500 and the OCD.

The reversible boost/dist or dist/boost feature is one of the GT500's selling points.

I made the Boost go into a light crunchy OD, and then Boost -> Dist made the distortion be a GIANT sound.

Ok cool, maybe i'll try this pedal before the fulltone bassdrive. I'm guessing the GT500 would be better for a grit+distortion both-in-one pedal huh?

I think it would be. The Bassdrive I tried just COULDN'T get that ballsy powerful sound. Even the boost channel with the drive at like 2/3 or so was heavier sounding (to me) than the bassdrive.

Haven't heard a GT2, but the Distortion channel sounded wild, man.

Bump. Can't find a Fulltone Bass-Drive anywhere OTOH there is a glut of GT-500's on Evilbay. Has anyone found bass clips of the GT-500? A pedal that goes from warm tubey OD all the way to raging distortion would be ideal for me.
