The Future of Fender?

I got to say, I would be totally down with trying a bass made this way. Maybe the future alternative to wood instruments? Who knows, I just think it's pretty cool.

For me it's like imagin' a world without gasoline...
I already devoted part of a thread displayin' love for my Alfa Romeo twinspark four valves, I just cannot see me take into consideration bass with no tonewood to rely on

I'm also picky about tonewood the only hypothesis of no wood at all just make me go mad

So, are they going to offer a nitro finish? Already have the cellulose part in the cardboard, and it would be a shame to seal all that beautiful paper in plastic.

Could also make it out of waxed cardboard, to make it waterproof.

I wonder how quickly this would have burned up if Jimi was playing it at Monterey Pop in '68?
Would it smash well, or just deform when bashed onto the floor or into an amp or speaker.
How much would it weigh??

It's not as if Status, Steinberger or Modulus, for example, haven't show us all that it is possible to make phenomenal sounding instruments out of alternative materials.

The future for the industry, not just Fender, I suspect, isn't wooden.

That's pretty heavily-treated cardboard already. It's not like they cut up a box to use on the thing.
