Double Bass The Grace Roxi and Rex mike preamps are here!

Saw a Grace Roxi on stage this week. Never heard of it before and it was green.

Looked it up at the Grace website and only found pics of the Roxi and the smaller Rex, no other info. They are similar to the Alix and Bix except they have XLR mike inputs rather than 1/4" instrument. I'm guessing they are like the mike channel of the Felix. No idea on price, can't find it at online dealers yet (the pics are dated 2/23/2023, just a week ago). I notice Roxi has the knob protecting bars like Felix2...can an Alix2 be in the pipeline?

I think both of these new offerings from Grace look amazing. At their list price tag I’m really glad I bought my Grace Felix when I did. The cost of building
a high quality preamp has really increased. I’ll just wait until the Roxi has been around long enough to hit the resale market. :)

Holy smokes! That’s the first price tag I’ve seen on them. I could almost buy another Felix for the price of that Roxi!

The Grace Felix is now $1,295.00 so it’s not as close as it used to be but at the original price $995.00. The feature set of the Felix vs the Roxi
gives you more flexibility and options. So, it depends on what your setup is. Even at it’s current price I’d spend the extra money to get the Felix.
Just my take. If money were no object than it would be great to have a Felix in green.

I agree. It's difficult to justify the cost of the Roxi when for an additional 30% or so you can get a whole Felix. Operationally speaking, the Roxi seems to be about half of a Felix with a fixed HPF.

The Rex is about half the cost, but only has XLR input. Seems pretty limited when you factor in the overall cost. I could see myself spending $300ish on this one... but not $600.

I know Grace stuff is top notch (which is why I spent all my money on the Felix)... but it seems slightly disproportionate when you factor in the feature set. However, adding the 9v 500mA out on the Roxi was really smart.

If money were no object then it would be great to have a Felix in green.
For sure... it money grew on trees I'd have two Roxis side by side. That would let me set up separate FX loops for DB and EB and give me flexibility that I do not currently enjoy with the Felix. Plus I'd have the option for two XLR's if I wanted them, which might be nice when recording my trio live. I like to mic the guitar players amp with a ribbon mic when we do that.
