The Hossenfeffer Bass Build

Done.....
Backyard iPhone photography is about all I'm capable of, but it looks pretty sparkly in the sun.

I'd like to thank everyone who stuck it out with me through this endless build, with special thanks to:
@mapleglo for spriritual, motivational and demonstrable overall coolness, and for being an example of what amateur luthiers are capable of.

@ctmullins for lending me the crucial tool at the crucial moment, and lending advice and support along the way

@Aceonbass for timely technical support, misc parts, and the willingness to share his expertise with TB at large

@Rôckhewer for his unbelievable builds, to which I aspire (someday) and for his generous donation to the Hossenfeffer cause.

I'm sure I missed a lot of people, but greatly appreciate all who slogged through this. I have one more Ric build in the works, hopefully considerable quicker on the build! The Hossenfeffer II Build
Really nice work!

So.... About sound clips... The only thing I currently own that resembles a recording device is my iPhone with Garageband on it (which i've never used). Yeah, I know, I'm a little out of the loop! I figure there must be some freeware or low cost apps that would suffice for recording a couple short clips. Suggestions? I do have an interface gadget called "Guitar Jack", which was designed to plug into third generation iPhones, including some basic effects. It's obsolete, of course, but they did have an app that allowed for some basic recording. Years ago i bought a Tascam Bass Trainer, the old CD model, which worked OK as a headphone amp. The CD player was crap, but it did allow you adjust the speed of songs without changing the pitch, or you could adjust pitch of a song to match your bass. I may drag that out again to avoid driving everyone crazy listening to me butcher Siberian Khatru again. I won't embarass myself posting anything until I get some chops back in shape. I've found myself more intersted in building than playing lately, but now I have no excuse.

My preference is plugging straight into a laptop, as that avoids any coloration introduced by an amp, or room (if mic’ed). But not everyone has one, and not everyone has an interface for one. Worst case, dial in a “neutral” tone on your amp (did you get one yet? :roflmao:) and use the built-in iPhone mic...

Still no amp bought, no great hurry though, borrowed my son’s Rumble 30 while he’s away on Sea Term with Mass Maritime, heh! When I buy an amp it will be a class D mini with a good line out. I don’t gig out anymore, no need for a powerful rig.
Edit: Dragged out the old Tascam Bass Trainer for yucks, it actually does have a line out.... hmmmm
