Got a BTB1005 on the way this week. I can't wait, my first 5 string. I'll post pics when she arrives.
Actually, I have a question. The bass has the original Ibanez branded pickups in it. I recall reading somewhere that a lot of folks like to replace them along with the pre (in some cases) but had problems finding the right size. Are there drop-in pups I could use on there? Does Bartolini make a set?

Ok, so you'd be a good person to ask then... Aside from the maple top on the 700 series, what differences are there between those and the 500's?
As far as I can tell, bodies and necks are same material, pickups are same, hardware is the same... Is it just the maple top that raises the price $200?

Yes, the flamed maple top is the only difference but it is so damn beautiful, the pics on the net do not do it any justice...
