I rarely--if ever--post on this forum. But I watched this recently, and then watched it a few more times, and then got people I play with to watch it. So I'm posting it here. Totally worth 9 minutes of your time.

Sample: A quote from Dizzy Gillespie: "People think it's ba-do-ba-do-bop. But it isn't! It's BA-DO-BA-DO-BOP!"

Yes, to some people he looks like Captain Kangaroo. But he's not.

 
Good video, thanks for posting. I wish Galper had used a different word than "proved" ...seems like "suggested" or possibly even "demonstrated" would be more accurate ...but there's a lot of great insight in this.

The (very personal) problem I have with this approach is that my dynamics fly right out the window when I do it. Scream internally and I bash my instrument to heck and back. Which is the complete antithesis of what I usually go for.
There's the bit at the beginning: You have to control your emotions. Still working on that myself.
