Here is my 2001 Jazz Bass V my wife got me for anniversary last year. I added chrome knobs and a Marcus Miller 5 chrome pickup cover. A wonderful bass!

For some reason, the colors came out like crap on this photo

L to R
1. Schecter California Custom 4 - This a GREAT and totally under appreciated jazz bass. I had never been a big fan of Schecter until I played this thing. I regularly switch between this bass and my Modulus 6. This is actually a beautiful red burst w/ matching head stock but you cant tell by the photo. The is one of the only production 4 string jazzes that came in 35in scale that I could find. Feels great..

2. SX SJB62 - This bass gets played when I need flatwounds.. Only thing I've done is put Fender 62 RI Pups on it.

3. SX SJB75 - Dont play it much. Thought it looked good and bought it as a back up.

4. Fender MIM Deluxe 5 - Poor thing. This thing hardly gets played at all. I just never got use to 5 string and I really should sell this to someone who could use it but I have an issue with "pack rat"ing bass stuff.

those schecters look hot, ive seen them in the catalog but ive never seen one here

Its a great, punchy bass for the price. Unfortunatly, they dont make them anymore but the pop up on ebay every once in a while.. I might try to pick up a 5 string and string it with a high C if I can get ahold of one (and if I can warm up to 5 strings)..

Here's a better pic with correct color:

That's a slick bass you have there JazzBassvb. I like the pickup cover on a fiver...

Thanks very much! It's funny, but in person, it is a very nice shade of red, but in the pictures I took, it came out close to a dark bright orange. Oh well. I'll have to try and get some taken during the day.

Cool how you Marcus Millerized your bass.

Jazzin',

You caught that, eh? :hiding: It's only folks who are really in the know (not many of my friends) that recognize that. Thanks.

I know its a little cheesy, but the different knobs really do serve a purpose. The standard jazz knobs are the tone controls and the chrome ones take care of the actual pickups (though Marcus has a volume pot for each pickup, I have a blend instead). It makes sense to me, anyway. :)

When I first saw the bass at the store, I really didn't like the color. I think what helped that fact was the tort pickguard, but I loved how it played and sounded. A little while after my wife brought it home, I finally figured out what it needed. It needed a little 'bling' and I thought that adding some chrome would make it look better. That was around the same I was really getting into and trying to learn about Marcus. I've always loved his bass, not because of who plays it very much (though I love his style), but I just like the way it looks. It has it's own character and look, and that's what I wanted in mine. I think I did it. I have into it something like $16-$20 bucks, so I can't complain. If anything, I may get a black pickguard and call it good. I don't know, though.

I appreciate the kind remarks.

that color is AMAZING! it looked purplish to me on sites. i almost regret not saving up an extra $100 and buy one of those instead of my TBC

Here is what was a MIJ '91 Fender jazz bass 60s reissue, with the earthing strip and strap doo dah on the back of the headstock, pickups routed in brass 'baths' etc... It now has a hipshot detuner, a pearl scratchplate, an East jretro preamp, emg pickups, badass 2 bridge and not yet fitted is a status graphite neck, you can also see a piece of ribbed rubber from a lawnmower drive belt which covers about three or four screw holes

and this is where all the bits go, a jazzbast*ard made which will have the old neck fitted and enwhistle pickups the fenders old electronics and bridge to a fairly budget jazz bass body
