I've seen him around campus a lot but I've never talked to him. Never heard anything bad about him. :)

:) That's actually a benefit that I hadn't thought of. But a good one though.

Bob Ross always said: "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents."

If I hadn't bought that neck, I would'nt have contacted Allan about it and wouldn't have gotten to know him at all. Of course I may have eventually gotten to know him because I want to have at least 1 other bass made by him, but because of this project, I've gotten to know him now and have learned a lot in a short period of time in terms of what goes into a project like this and what to look out for next time. In addition, I've located some good places to buy parts and such, which is always a good thing.

Thanks for checking back on the progress. :)

Allan's a hellua guy, and very dedicated and meticulous in what he does. Every time I go to his shop, I get the feeling I get when a little kid shows me his new toys. :D He enjoys it too much to allow himself to do a bad job, so you are in good hands.

Allan just sent me this note about the fingerboard...

"That's 3 coats of Cyanoacrylate with leveling and sanding inbetween. The last flood coat was wet sanded to 1500, buffed with polishing compound and then waxed. About 8 hours in the fingerboard altogether. I can't gurantee that it will last a lifetime but it's a little better than what you had before."

Got another update from Allan!

And the sealed and polished edges of the template. Allan says: "I did this to test and practice with the CA before starting on your neck."

It's all coming together nicely, and I'm getting more and more excited about the whole thing. I'll keep y'all posted as more updates and pics come in. :)
