This is a thread of appreciation for LL bean. Yesterday I recived a black watch plaid flannel shirt as a gift and I have to say it is by far the nicest plaid flannel shirt I have ever had.

Being from Maine, I can't help but be a fan. I've had a few pieces of LL Bean clothing here and there, but my big LL purchases were a 5500 cu hiking backpack, 4 lb single-man tent, and also an extremely lightweight and compactable sleeping bag, amongst many other smaller pieces of hiking equipment.
After graduating high school, my then-girl and I hiked the 100 Mile Wilderness of the Appalachian Trail. It all held up very well and I still have it today. Furthermore, they're warrentee is nice to have (I haven't really needed to use it much, though).
Come to think of it, my favorite LL Bean purchase has to be my Cresta Hiker boots. Not only are they completely water proof, but so comfortable that I swear they feel like you're wearing slippers.

Their customer service has been fabulous, IME. We are lucky to have one of their stores in our area. Anything you buy at the store or the catalog, can be returned or exchanged through the store, no questions.

Nah, I wouldn't say that. My wife may not be an emaciated stick figure but she's very fit and would never even be considered for membership in the "fat...ahem...I mean...lovely" category. She has quite a lot of LL Bean clothing and looks mighty good in it.
About their customer service - I agree that it's top notch. Returns and exchanges are very quick and easy.
LL bean reminds me of those backpacks in grade school that have your name on them. Im with Maki, wouldnt be caught dead in it.

Great company, I have a winter jacket made by them; ordered it online, arrived two days later. Great, fast service.
I live 10 minutes from the HQ in Freeport. It's pretty much the law to own a monogrammed L.L. Bean backpack and a sweatshirt of some sort.
Good ole Maine, it always did appear that way. I probably had 3 or 4 of those monogrammed backpacks through my school career.
I was actually just ironing an L.L. Bean plaid flannel shirt to wear tonight. I have owned several.
