A question for Lone Wolf Club members only.

Though you are like me and just bedroom bassist and occasional jam. How many basses do you own.

I currently have 7 and 1 six string

1. Fender P
2. Squier 77 Jazz
3. Ibanez SR 300
4. Raven West 4 string
5. Raven West 8 string
6. Epi Toby
7. Honer P fretless
8 Squier Bullet Strat

Overkill, but I love em and want more

I just have a red Ibanez GSR 200l, but I'm plotting the purchase of an ABG. Side note, I've only been playing for 15 days shy of a year.

It feels really good, I like where I am. Everything is still new and exciting; and I've learned to brush off questions like "when are you going to join a band?" and "why aren't you taking lessons?!"

When I got my bass (1/3/12) was only the second time I'd ever held a bass. I didn't know anyone who played bass and was totally clueless beyond the animistic need to make this sound. Now I have about 1/16 of a clue. There is so much to learn but I don't have to know it all to be a good bass player.

I agree I think people who can read music and know chord progression are phenomenal at this point in my life I don't think that information would benefit me.

Hey casting thunder, I also have a GSR200. i love it. with some nice strings (D'Addario) and a half decent setup, it plays just as nice as some SR's with double and triple the price tag. if your not comfortable setting up your own gear, pay the local guitar shop guy 50$ to do it, then stick around and ask some questions, he'll show you what hes doing and why. its easier than putting new brake pads in a Chevy. I learned back in the early 90s (pre internet) from guitar player magazine. it was in my high school library, it had all the factory specs for old fenders gibsons gretchs, you name it. way to awesome to simply borrow. somehow it found its way into my bedroom and the rest is history. go gas your abg, but keep that old GSR around, they are worth it.

Cool, have you tried flat wounds stings on it? I'm getting new strings for xmas and want to try flat wounds but I hear you can only go up to a .45 gauge with the GSR nut.

To my fellow Wolves;
I was enjoying my latest Christmas present , a new Fender Bassman 100T with the 115 Neo Cab, and my wife thinks it is way overkill as I play in the library, since I did not need a performance sized amp. She thought my little Peavey 110 was more than enough. I just love the tone of the Fender, I keep it at 25 watts, but could go to 100 if needed, love the vintage/overdrive channels and the ability to really change tone, and since I played a Bassman back in the 60's it just looks and sounds right, like I have come back to my roots when I play my 66 P bass through it.
That got me wondering- what do my fellow lone bassists use for their home amps? Practice amps, power stacks or something in-between? Please share your amplifier choices, I think this could be interesting to us all.

I've only been playing bass for about 3 months, it is coming along though. Thing is I'm far too antisocial to be in a band, and not nearly wealthy enough to hire one, so Lone Wolf it is. Here's a taste of what I get up to:



As for what amp? None. Direct into audio interface, tone shaping via plugins. Monitor via headphones or my nearfields...

Can I get a number please?

This club sounds like it was meant for me - at least right now. If I start getting more social, I'll turn my number back in.

Hey all, this is a decent club for me. I do play in a band for fun/as a vehicle for road testing my original material, but my playing is primarily for my own enjoyment. I play bass, guitar and drums, and I'm working on an album. I will get a friend to sing on it, but everything else is going to be me.

I've always been made to feel like a bit of an outcast for wanting to do everything for my own sake, so it's good to know I'm far from the only one who has the same attitude as me. Despite everything being for my own enjoyment, I still take everything absolutely seriously and am 100% committed to my development as a musician. Maybe one day I'll be in a band of like-minded musicians, but if not, that doesn't bother me.

I'd appreciate a number too, when convenient.
