My son has that same Millenium Falcon, and I have a spare Fender Jazz neck in the closet. Now If I could just find some pickups and electronics....

Well, in my defense, I was only six when it came out. So I'm old, but not quite ancient...yet. Anyways, getting old beats the hell out of the alternative.

Kessel is surrounded by all sorts of nasty stellar events. The Kessel run is a meandering route through these and around them.
Reducing the length of the run means that Han was willing to take a few more risks to get the spice to market.
