The Mini-Rig thread got me thinking...

...I've been meaning to put together a small rig for practicing at home as well as being portable enough for my non rock gigs, one-off gigs and auditions.

I'm considering either the small Mark Bass head with the tube preamp or the GK MB Fusion when it comes out (I'm leaning towards the latter).

What's a good speaker configuration for such a rig? I want to be able to get nice lows (nothing too crazy like I get with my 2x15, obviously) without rattling the windows and I want enough power to play with a band, but not so much that I can't tame it for apartment use.

2x8"? A tight 4x8" with a horn? A 2x10" with a horn? A 1x12" with a horn?

I'd be using either a P-Bass with Bartolini pickups or a Ric.

What do you think?

Ooooh...what about a cab with two 8" drivers (or maybe 6" drivers) and a single 12 with a horn? Maybe have LDS make it?

These are what I'd consider small cabs but are still capable of massive thunder.

I found that anything smaller than a decent sized 2x12 gets lost among guitars and drums. So, 2x12 is what I'd suggest. My "mini-rig" consists of a Walkabout head atop a Genz Benz Uber 212. Light, portable, and packs plenty enough punch to keep up with a full band.

i had a similar search that ended once i tried the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]....
when i want or need more output, i just pair it up with their [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]....
