The most talented rock group that still plays today?

Yep, this can go anywhere. After talking this out with a few buddies today, I'd say the most collectively talented group in it today is Tool. From Carey's Moon-like beats, Maynard's lyrics, Chancellor's grooves, and Adam's swank riffs, I can't think of a more talented group of musicians.

Let's hear it.

+ a googalplex for YES! Chris Squire, Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Alan White, and Rick Wakeman. IMHO, their level of musicianship leaves all others in the dust. Steve Howe knows that fingerboard better than any guitarist on the planet. I'm not talking worthless speed jibberish, I'm talking about music theory and knowledge. It is what separates the men from the boys.

Rush is also fantastic. Neil Peart (aka "the professor") is incredible, and Geddy is simply amazing!

I have been listening to that "higher level" type of music for so long that when I hear something kindergarten-level like Skynyrd or Nickelback, I have to run to the nearest restroom and upchuck.
