The mystery bass. Need help identifying

I just recieved this bass in the mail and can't figure out what it is. I have looked in old catalogs, read all the info I could get here and (yes, I admit it) even on Ibanez forums. I know I should take off the neck and look for serials, but if some of the bright people here can help me, I'd rather not. Apart from the electronics and the need for a proper setup, it seems to be in pretty good shape.
I think it must be an Ibanez, most likely some sort of sr model. There is however strange anomalies:
The shape of the cover for the control cavity
The nut cover on the headstock
The bridge is mounted in the body with only four screws
the position of the screws that hold the neck
The deeper of the neck PU's is closer to the neck

Then there is the elecronics. There are two switches with two positions each. One selects either neck or bridge pickup (apparently there is no way to have both). The other bypasses the circuitry. At the moment this is not working as the black lead from the battery is unconnected. I think I'm going to check if I can get i to work by soldering it to the third jack lug (the one that isn't signal or ground and have been soldered before. There is also a resistor soldered to the housing of the pot closest to the bridge with the other end going nowhere. Strange!

The finish must be of a later date, as there is no decals or numbers whatsoever. It seems to be of a rather high quality, though.

I really hope that some of the bright guys in this place can help me out, as I would like to know what this is and hopefully find the schematics. I also hope you will forgive my language as I am a dane. Many thanks in advance.

The headstock shape makes me think of older Ibanez Soundgears, but not positive. Since it's been refinished, it's probably safe to assume that wasn't the only modification.

The ends of the frets is ticking out a little bit on each side of the fingerboard. I dont think it is necesarily bad workmanship as it is very uniform along the neck. I think that the neck is dried out completely and has shrunk. I will give it some oil. Any recommendations on that?

It does appear to be an Ibby. It could be made for another company since the parent company makes many brands of basses and guitars. You may want to email Ibanez the photos and see what they think.

We had someone else with one of these not long ago, it's not an Ibanez. I don't remember the brand 100%, but I'm leaning toward Fernandes, let me drink some coffee and wake up a little, or wait til cdef gets here.
