Just thought I'd post a couple pics of a new project. I've built several Fenderbirds over the years, but I thought I'd double the fun this time!
I built a stack of these bodies about 2 years ago, and they've just been sitting in a pile. I figured I might as well start building them up as a winter project, and I'd start with the 8 string first. Hope you enjoy.

Have you no desire to improve the fret access? Making that lower cutaway a bit deeper, like on a Spector Tbird makes the world of difference.

Hey Jack......I'm not as concerned about access as I am about feeling like a genuine Tbird. I don't play up that high very often, and when I do I'm just kinda used to it. I know where you are coming from though.

What a wonderful idea, I really enjoy the tone of these basses but the neck dive has always turned me off. I only imagine a dual course 8 string version will sound HUGE!

Thanks all! I will update with progress pics as stuff happens. Should be stringing it up to check alignment and to cut the nut this week. All thats left is pickup routing, make a rear cover, finish sand, and send to painter. Hope to be gigging it by my November 15 NYC show!
