The official 2008 Tax Return Wishlist thread!

I wish we could hit the sweet spot - don't need to pay any more money, don't have any refund coming.

But it's not gonna happen.

If I have a choice? I want to end up owing them a bit of money. Any time you get a refund, it means the gummint has had the use of your money all year without paying interest. That's a bad deal.

There' s a worse deal: finding you owe the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). We actually brought in a bit more this year, and I was worried that we'd finally hit the line.

The automated thing on the IRS site said we didn't owe it. But I did the manual worksheet and if I were owing we'd be talking an additional 26% of adjusted gross over and above what I paid this year.

Well my wife and i had been going back and forth about whether we should get a new couch or a new tv. We had finally decided on a tv and we got up this morning to go and look at a couple 32" LCD's at Walmart. After looking at the connections and comparing pictures on three or four 32" tv's and a 37 incher my wife called to me and said "check this one out". She was standing infront of a beautiful 42" Vizio LCD and wouldn't you know it, that tv came home with us. Wasn't planning on buying andything bass related with this return. wow this tv is great.

tax return and the "bribe" (or refund, or advance, or stop-gap, or band-aid on a cut jugular, or whatever you want to call it) are all going to the home loan.

however our end of the year bonuses went towards a new washer and dryer, and a new tv.
