You know what's weird? When I joined TB last year, I thought the Bongo was the ugliest bass ever. Yet after seeing a number of pictures on this forum, its look has grown on me. I even find it looks pretty cool in black, white or sterling silver w/ pearloid pickguard. (although I still prefer natural wood finishes -- the wood grain on my Ibby SR4005 is the most beautiful thing ever)

I am, in fact, planning to purchase one after my move to Canada this January: the MusicMan tone is killer (Ed Friedland and Dave Marks's Bongo demos, in particular, make it sound awesome) and I want to switch to 6 strings, so here I come, Bongo 6 HS!

(Speaking of which, does anyone have pointers on how/where to purchase one in Montreal? Should I make a new thread for this instead of polluting the Bongo club when I don't have a number yet?)

When I first got involved with playing Music Man basses last year, I also joined their forum to learn more about the product. I felt the same way about the Bongo's but I remember Sterling Ball telling me to give it time and that they would grow on me. True to his word, they did. I now have 2 and want more. By far the most versatile bass I have ever played but they have also become quite sexy to me as well.

Bongo love, yessir. Simply plays / sounds like no other sixer I've ever personally wrestled with, plus it is the only bass that sober non-musicians have told me was "cool".
