My Fender got a little upgrade, I installed a Gotoh 201:

That's no 50th anniversary Jazz, this is:

(Number 073 of 500 made. I don't have it anymore, traded it for my '83 Alembic)
Every Fender instrument (also Squier I think) got the little gold anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock in '96.

Here's the complete anniversary collection + the neckplate of the above bass:

I know mate, there was limited edition of 500 basses etc..but that was 50th anniversary of Fender, it has that gold sticker and it was made in '96.

Check
and there's little difference between the Limited editions and the Standard series, only optical (Flame Maple front and back (veneer I think), Antique Sunburst, Gold hardware and the engraved neckplate)
I hated to see that bridge pickup routing when I removed the pickguard, definitely took some of the "magic" of a limited edition instrument.

Sorry, I forgot to mention: I love that combi of Black body/Black pearl pickguard :bassist:

hey,I hear you buddy! I know there's a difference between the special ed. and reg. but they put that 50th ann,not me, and 1996.was 50th anniversary. not a big deal! I never jumped for Limited editions whatsoever.
and yeah, black shell p-guard is nice combo for a black/rosewood:)

classy, very classy..

^^^ Love that pickguard on the Dargie. Really different.

Thanks guys.

The pickguard looks even better in person. Its turns more yellowish when you take a picture of it, and the bass turns more green too..lol. There is a little bit of gold that stands of the green in person which matched the guard really well. Impossible colors to take pics of..
