Thanks guys! I love a traditional sunburst or tobacco burst. But I like visual excitement and nothing says custom like a wild color bass with black or gold hardware. Maybe I'm strange. I like to stand out! So here are some closer pics of my girls. Tell me if you think they look better with or without the pick guards on the 1st two.
The Orange (Mango Tango) and the White (Horchata) are 8lb 2Pc Ash, block edges made by a guy in TX (I miss him, he gave up the business), sprayed by A custom Hot Rod/Low Rider vato in Sacramento (they are pearl auto paints House of Kolor).
The Green (Limon) is a 9lb 2pc N Amer. Hard ash by Danny Ransom of Ransom guitars in Sin Francisco (Yeah, I said it)! The paint job is not to code in my book (I did it) so, It's gonna get done right.
Mango has active J and MM Bartolinis, Horchata has Passive Carvin J99s (but will change to the ones used in Sekou Bunch's SB5000s). And Limon has a Passive MM Wilkinson and Carvin J99 combo (which works with the 25k pots). It has this warm mid low Flea meets Steve Harris kinda tone. More snap than bright! But lot's of headroom.
Limon weighs 11lbs but Damn! She's thick like Lupe from the Taqueria I get my fat burriots from. Lol!
The Red is Alder (this one has an Identity crisis) cause I change her like an undercover agent. She's been painted over 4 times, changed PUs twice, Now she's a mock of Guitar Hero (crowd kinda digs it) But if I gotta tweak or experiment, this is the specimen.
If I paint it it's the Auto spray paints.
The Dark blue is a Chevrolet color, I had done in LA over an SX something. I bought in the Parts section at Rondomusic.com. PUs are passive whites from some place in Canada.
This is the classiest bass I have (for now). She is punchy, bright and articulate. I will never give her up.
