The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

HAR HAR LOL AND Much pride love man...good burritos best on earth in the daytime Castro district. I prefer the Berkley myself ;) The city scares the poopers out of me straight out o my stoma man!!! TOO BIG, and BAD!!!

I live in the Mission... that's where the best (most authentic) burritos are found in SF.

You can find examples of '60s vintage Dano's finished with a technique called "craqueleur". The pictured bass is a '68 Silvertone 1443 Horrnet (made by Danelectro for Sears Dept Store) that was stripped of it's red/black-burst finish (which they only came in) when I got it. I did my own version of a cracqueleur 'distressed' finish and I was very pleased the way it came out. Great playing/sounding bass too, after some serious restoration work.

In 2020 I lost an ole Silvertone acoustic six string guitar that needed tons of t.l.c. and resto work as well, to thieves. Old goodies from a bygone era most people would just pass on and toss in the garbage, SADLY.

Yes I know EXACTLY where you live. Wasn't going to say. Ole rail tramp stomping ground,Probly still is that I never had the fortune to visit, again, SADLY. But I know of those rolls treats of unearthly comparison to be sure, as I am a retired chef, cook, present gourmand and yes indeed those are THE Best burrioto's on this planetoid!!!!

I officially hate you. Getting a good burrito down here is high on impossible. My Maltese mate does good ones but he's ~800mi away, and we're back in lockdown.
Truth be told, the ones you make yourself at home are the best. Just learn the cooking techniques used and the more natural the ingredients the better. All the meat beans and rice are generally using the same seasonings no matter who is cooking. The sauces are the key. That's where time pays off. Roast your peppers, slow cook your tomatoes, hand make your guacamole... oh God... I gotta go, suddenly starving

Yeah, I'm going to do that after the move, especially as my hometown has almost no FF restaurants, certainly none of the big chains (a good thing). I've been making chilis for years and there is a lady near here who has a store importing the authentic ingredients. Luckily she does mail order as I'll soon be 500mi away.
I'm getting my first deep fryer too for chimichangas.

For your health I urge you to get an air fryer instead! Haha. But yes, my benchmark for any new Mexican restaurant is always their carne chimi

BEST RESURANT STYLE: I CLARIFY ONCE AGAIN!!! SORRY FOR DISLECKSIA! Of the ones you make are best, but to do so properly you best have your prep and pan selection meme b4 u start to cook and figure in size constraints to go with fifo storage.!!!.So sorry for misinterpretation's I am a complicated beast upstairs...
