The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

I'm smitten with this bass.

Here's my girlfriend's soon-to-be new bass when I give it to her on her birthday. I got it all setup and added some aged white knobs which really complete it. It feels so good to play, I'm jealous. I usually couldn't care less for gold hardware but wow, you need to raise those pinkies to play this fancy thing.
(The control plate looks rough because it still has the protective plastic)

I tried the white knobs on a couple other basses and I'm really diggin them.

Part of me feels like the white knobs are crying out for matching white PU covers. :p

That's awesome.
As Dave said: You'll get some leg tonight for sure!

I actually bought white PU covers for it as well but they were bright white and looked out of place with the off-white knobs and body. It's too late to order some new ones in time now

Love the Pearl neck blocks and finish on your girl's Jazz. Also the cream finish on your Jazz is nice

It's NEVER too late to do something she'll appreciate. All you gotta do is explain the situation re: the bright whites. If she doesn't dig the off-whites...then maybe you keep 'em!

She's real finicky when it comes to small details. The bright white on an all gold and aged white bass will drive her up the walls and new covers would never get here in time for her Bday. I'm gonna show her the covers when I give her the bass and let her choose between them, new aged ones or stay with black. She's not real flashy when it comes to jewelry (which she rarely wears) so the gold is already going to be a stretch lol. That being said, she enjoys modern and classy which I think this bass exemplifies without being over the top

Hope no one minds me posting the same post in a different thread. I'm a relative noob on TB and haven't explored all it's subterranean caverns. I posted this originally in the FGN bass club, but it looks like low traffic there. Not that I'm in a rush, but this thread may provide quicker feedback. Then again, maybe none and I'll slink off he he.

Hi. Hope I am in the appropriate thread to get some opinions about this CoolZ ZJB-1R Jazz Bass I bought as a second hander.
It feels fantastic to play. It has been modded. The pickups are overwound replacements that are wired serially, with just a vol pot for both pickups and a tone pot . Sound great. The output jack has been moved to the rear side. The bridge has been modified to accept string throughs. A thumb rest has been added. I've long wanted to own a Japanese Fender copy of some kind. Far as I can tell, disregarding any age related cosmetic stuff, the build quality is top notch. I feel i got a great bass for what I paid. Perhaps someone could indicate what they think is a reasonable market price for this bass. Not with a view to me selling it. Just to confirm to me that I really think the seller sold me a great bass for a modest price.

Oh, yeah. I get what you're saying. Wasn't suggesting to put the bright whites on, just to let her know you have aged covers on the way that she can choose to add or not add when they arrive.

I see a used original one advertised for $300. Sounds like the mods made took some effort. Hard to put a price on that. But if you like the way it sounds and plays, you came out on top.

For reasons that probably don't make sense to normal humans, I really like Jazz (or Jazz style) basses with one-piece pickguards. I know this makes life more difficult in some regards, but visually, I definitely prefer it.

Oh ok, yeah that's a good idea. Either way, my curiosity and never ending urge to tinker got the better of me and I decided to toss the bright white covers on because they do sorta go with the block inlays. Turns out the neck cover is slightly fatter and won't fit without dremelling the pickguard a bit, so the black ones stay for now until the queen has spoken.

To stay on the topic of showing basses, here's what's on the stands in my workroom at the moment:

I won't state the exact price I paid in Aussieland dollars out of respect for the seller. But 300usd is currently $454 aud. So I give my respect to the seller who sold me the bass below that figure and I received a great quality instrument with some nice mods thrown in. The pickup mod is something I might have done myself, but now I can just enjoy another's labours. Thanks for your post

Those ano gold pickguards sure are swell. I usually don't like gold but man, they look sharp.
