As far as Dan Briggs being underrated, AP magazine gave him Bassist of the Year. And they have bad taste. Gave All Time Low's
"Weightless" Song of the Year. At least they know what's up in the bass department :D

Looks like I need to read more about the bass players that influence us. I never know who gets these awards. Rick Savage ever win this? :rolleyes:

Just got my first good bass, which is this little corvette fna pictured below. Being somewhat new here, I'm not sure just what the point of this thread is, but I thought I might as well join in. Besides,I figure any excuse for a picture is a good one, because he looks and sounds so good - he's both a beauty and a beast. He may already be in one of these threads somewhere, because I bought him from TB'er Zach.

Beautiful! I typically don't care much for that color, but really works on that Bass. May you enjoy it for years and years!

Haha nope. He's too old to even be considered by AP. They cover all the crappy scene bands.

Very interesting. I don't remember that part.

Hopefully I will be getting my fretless Corvette soon....

Yo Sound Chaser,is that a hollow flash Spector mate?
When they were first introduced,I thought they were gonn abe huge,felt the same way about Warwick's chrome tone finshes.But people didnt take to em fer some strange reason.& they even went as far as dressing up the Streamer LX in CT,possibly the sweetest sounding Warwick of them all,but to no avail.
People are picky,picky buggers huh.

Hi there,
one question for the WW specialists: Did anybody have a chance to compare a Thumb 5 NTs with wenge fingerboard to one with a ebony board? If so, is there a significant difference?

I´m asking because I could get a Thumb with wenge board as NOS for a good price, but wonder if it would be better to go with the current version.

I have had both. The older ones have more growl and they are right on the mid frequencies. they cut through the mix a lot easier. they also have wenge-bubinga necks.

The newer ones with the ebony board have crispier highs , more definition and more lows. I like them better. These have ovangkol-bubinga necks. ALso the newer ones come with 3 band eq and synthetic nut (JAN 2 or JAN3) where the older ones come with the 2 band eq usually and brass nut (JAN1)

weight and other specs seem to be the same. I love the looks and JAN1 (adjust a nut made of brass) of the older ones but I like the sound of the newer ones.

I figure while I'm busy joining clubs I might as well join this one.

Second from the right is trujo777's old Fortress One, and to the left of that is my Corvette Standard 5 Ash.
