I know that my Post is probably not the Point of your Interest, but i will do..

I know that Warwick makes some neat Basses and that they have a good Quality.

But I would never ever play a Warwick Bass and if they would be the last Basses on Earth I would play Trumpet or Flute or something else and I am a German...I tell you why...

Because the Price that the Employees at Warwick must pay, is to high. Poor that such Things can happen in a Democratic Republic.
They work under the badest Circumstances there. They work 60 Hours/Week and more, (38-40 in Germany is normal) they are highly underpaid and the Employees must sign Contracts when they start to work for Warwick, wich are ridiculous. (Only 20 Days Holiday + 2 additional Weekends to work/Month)Unemployness, especially in the Area where Warwick has its Factory, favours these Circumstances and Mr. Wilfer makes lots of Money with expencive Basses, wich would be okay, if the Employees would get paid in a fair Way. But in that case ther is only one Man who makes the Profit.

The German President Mr. Köhler became a special Warwick Bass from Mr. Wilfer with a Black/Red/Yellow coloured Body, like the German Flag.... As our President has realized, under wich Circumstances the Emplyees have to work, he gave the Bass back to Mr. Wilfer.

Was in many Newsletters in Germany. You can´t hear only one Word about that from Warwick. I guess the Bosses there hope, that Time will make the People forget and they can go on that Way....

I will never buy only one Product from Warwick, or from those Products that are distributet by them....

I respect your right to spend yourmoney the way you see fit.But there is alot more to this argument than what you & the media have stated.

I think that about covers most brands distributed by Warwick in Europe,for you to steer clear of.
Just bear in mind that there's plenty of companies (music)who have factories in areas with more attractive terms in which to do bussiness(IE Mexico's trade free zone)who arent accused of breaking the law &/or taking advantage of it's employees.
Warwick's factory is located in the old East Germany,as you probably know.Not far from the Czech border,where conditions of employment & rates of pay differ from other parts of Europe.I really cant argue much about this,coz I'm Australian,living in Sydney.But one thing I do know,& that's Warwick have a loyal & enthusiastic work force.Many of whom have relocated their home,to work for Warwick.It seems rediculous that so many people would move their homes & families,in order to be exploited.I know a few Warwick employees,past & present.& they all state that nobody works harder,or longer hours than Hans Peter Wilfer.He started Warwick in 1982,at the age of 24.He personally built basses for many years,alongside his employees.HPW actually built all of the vintage Warwicks himself & even some of the early custom shops.It started off as a very small bussiness,with only a few employees & has grown to become one of the few(& largest) manufacturers of musical equipment in Europe.This success & growth isnt due to exploitation.Think about how a company could get away with what it's been accused of,for the past 27 years.
Warwick is owned by one man,but trust me when I tell you that he's far from being the selfish mega rich man you're portaying him as.
I understand there's been some negative media regarding Warwick recently.I dont understand why the German president would accociate himself with a company who's guilty of these things.As far as Warwick's lack of response?Why on earth would anyone respond after being falsley accused?Where is the proof that any laws have been broken?Where are these exploited employees & why are they all so silent?
I remember this same subject was raised a couple of months ago,& it was deleted because the moderators deemed it innapropriate for a bass forum.I tend to agree.Not because I'm associated with Warwick,but because it's of political content.If you dont want your money going to Warwick,that's fine with me.But encouraging others to follow suit,for unfounded,unproven reasons,is propaganda.

That sounds good to me. My three Wicks are from that era ('90, '96, '97).
Besides I have no intention to sell any of them, it's good to know they still got some value.

I am still getting Warwick because they are awesome basses. I do not believe everything that is on the news. I have severl friends who are reporters and family members too who are reporters and not ALL the truth comes out on the news.

I love the basses and will continue owning them until i see or hear about this.

if Warwick is such a bad factory.. why do they have tours to visit? ;)

Agreed. Every company will have it's own problems, no matter what they are. Warwick has a strict quality control to enforce. I will still play their basses. simply because they are one of the best companies around.

Dude, welcome to Free Market Economics 101. We are talking a factory job, not a country club. Warwick may very well be a country club compared to the working conditions and pay at the Asian factories. I used to live and work on the economy in Germany, including doing HR stuff, and I know there are plenty of pro-worker regs in Germany.

Bottom line, your neighbors have a job because Warwick has not shifted production to Asia, unlike Fender. Please explain why you have not burned your beloved Fender collection to boycott their use of Asian sweatshops to produce Fender equipment?

And enjoy that club number. It's damn fine. DAMN FINE. :)

+1 when it comes to construction and quality yes... definetly. Even with people bashing them on their neck profile when that have never played one :rollno: :rolleyes:

I played my first Warwick and I did not even notice the different neck profile. On the ohter hand the quality I "felt" on my hands for both the bass guitar itself and the sound coming out of it enticed me and made me fall in love with them. (that was a Fortress One back then and I traded 2 basses of higher price for it since "I could not" let it go) :)

Hi Warwick people, I'm looking for a 90's Warwick catalog ad, it was a two-page poster where all models avaiable at that time where shown in two rows, I think I saw it in Bass Player magazine or one of those. Maybe someone can help me and pdf it... ;) I would appreciate any help very much!

Man, I think I remember that advert. I think it was in the 1993 Buyers Guide. I looked at it constantly :D
Next time I'm the 1/2 price book store, I'll see if they have a copy.
You could always see if your local library has it on microfish.

Also, eBay has a few copies floating about. I'm considering buying a lot of issues that's going for about $10 US.
