The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

Considering turning my Rockbass Fortress PJ passive but it has 4 knobs and I can’t figure out what to for the 4th knob, volume, pickup selector, and tone. What else?
Passive bass cut a la G&L?

Series/parallel switch?

Producer switch a la Lee Sklar?

Kill switch?

A little blinking light that does nothing?

Finally finished. Switch is in and frets are polished. Check tomorrow to see if I'm still overdriving the preamp when I won't wake up everybody in the house.

Anyone happen to know what size the tuners are? I have an Adam Clayton coming next week, and I’m going to put a Hipshot Detuner on it and was gonna order one, just don’t know what size.
Previous owner installed Hipshot UltraLites already.
TIA

Hypothetical question...
What pickups would you all recommend for a maple body (Blonde) Thumb? Something other than MEC but has the throatiness. EMGs or Bartolini perhaps?
What are the pickup sizes now, does it have the slanted JJ? If yes, make sure you measure them as that may limit your options for replacements.

I’ve not swapped the Js in my Thumb as I like the classic MEC + 3 band tone in that bass, but I’ve tried the Bartolini Js in a Vette and was never happy with the tone. EMGs may work if you can find the size (I have DC40s in my headless that I really like). Delano may also be a good option, I’ve considered swapping the J in my Streamer FNA with a Delano. I have Delanos (P and M) pickups in my Maruszczyk and they sound really good.

As stated above I do like the Duncan's in my SSII.. I do think they are darker than the EMG or Barts tho.

It depends which Barts. I've got a set of 59Js original bass that are dark, smooth, and syrupy. They could use more clank and top end. The classic bass models are supposed to have added bite and brightness.

@AudioTaper why not take this as an opportunity to wind your own set?

I'm already planning on making a body and eventually a neck. What more do you want of me?!?!
