I'm not sure when they would have switched. Maybe the Warwick rep can shed some light? Another note, the hipshot post is shorter than what my stock W tuners were. Pretty much all that sticks above the washer and nut is the slot depth of the post, maybe a little more. I'm not sure if that causes any issues. I didn't actually string it up, just mounted the tuners.
Guys the hype train is rolling! A friend of mine found this in a pawn shop and I just had to have it. I gotta wait for him to ship it up, the wait is killing me but I know this will be worth it. It's a '98 vette standard. This is going to be the first Warwick I've played that had the original run of Wenge necks. All of the ones I have played and the one I own are all after the switch. I can't wait to get my grubby little paws on it

That is an Ebony board. And the grain on that Bubinga came out great on it. I really can't wait to get this. The friend who picked it up is a P bass guy, and said it was one of the best feeling basses he has ever played. I've been trying to get him to love Warwicks and I think this bass may have done that
That's a real looker. I love the thick slab of ebony on my fretless Corvette.
Can't help but notice how the saddles follow the curve of the tailpiece - hopefully an indication that previous owner did not know what they were doing or lost heart because 'it doesn't play in tune', and so didn't give it much playtime...
There looks like a decent amount of wear on the fretboard and the logo is rubbed off the pickups. It looks like it was played, and my friend said it had a great setup and new strings, something the shop does not do. It could have been sold and some guy decided to pawn it. Either way it's going to be a great bass at a decent price

I am thinking about getting a Corvette Standard truss rod cover and a brass JAN 1. I haven't really seen these on basses, but they are one of the first things that come up when you look for a Warwick truss cover

I just had to replace my tuning machines so I contacted Warwick and they sent me the link to the store. I've found the prices to be better than anyone selling parts stateside. Their shipping prices are also very reasonable and they ship pretty quick. A full set of 5 gold tuners cost me $100 shipped from Germany.
I'm guessing here that the truss rod cover that doesn't have a model but does say "Warwick" was added later due to the original being lost or damaged. Both my Warwicks had the name of the bass on the cover when purchased (ie: Fortress, Corvette $$, etc.) The Warwick Shop in Nashville has a box full of them with many different names. I don't think they are for sale; rather they are used to replace lost or damaged covers.
I'm thinking it was added on later too. My Corvette Proline has the name on the cover as well as every other Warwick I've played. I could try to contact them and see if they would sell me one directly from them
I bought used a full set of gold hardware, which is everything - even the tiny screws that hold the tuners. Only the pickups were not included. New price was $350 but I bought mine used for about half that. The best part is the full set will fit almost any Warwick that has up to four knobs and up to 5 tuners. I've used it on two bases and it looks killer on both, esp. the one in Nirvana Black.
