Thanks mate, and to think i had no intention what-so-ever of buying it, lol. Went in to try a LTD dirty Blonde and a couple streamers etc, Guy at bass centre said he also had a used Thumb 5, which i said i'd give a go (without much enthusiasm). Couldn't put it down, plays like butter, incredible tone, beautiful feel to it... Had all this money saved for an engine build in my car and slammed it all down for the bass heheh :p

I have a bubinga Corvette and love it. I've played the ash model in the stores, and I have to say I don't like it very much in terms of overall balance. There was sufficient neck dive on every one I played. I don't have a comment on the tone, however, since I never actually plugged one in :p I would say it is probably nicer to have an ash fretless than a fretted...I could be wrong though!

Well, I own a custom vette and a good friend of mine has a FNA Jazzman Limited Edition 2004. I agree that LTD models sound great, but the only difference is that the top is koa (standard FNA has AA-flamed maple top) and the active J/twinJ pick-ups (standard has J/MM passive). The swamp ash body and the ovankol neck is default for both of them and also the active MEC 3 way electronics.

I think FNA is good for jazz, funk, it has a nice & "round" sound, also with lots of mids & high mids. Bubinga Vette is a little more "harsh" and impulsive, with a "growly" sound.

Both are very versatile, you can have many types of sound from them, only by turning the pots and push-pull them. However if you want a Bubinga Vette you should consider the weight of it...I have a 11cm wide strap and my shoulder still hurts after 2 hours.

i ahvent played the ash fretless but im sure its great. i just tried out an ash $$ corvette and was drooling over it. i love my bubinga standard but an ash one would be a great compliment

Hm...is it the red one? It's about $800 or so?

I would say to try out the bubinga fretless...it's on sale at Guitar Center right now for $850, which is not a bad deal at all. I've played the bubinga fretless and love that a lot, and not because I have a Corvette already but because it really plays well as a fretless.
