The One Bass

I'd keep my Thunderchief.
Most uncomfortable to play, but best sounding, and it was a christmas present from my wife, so it has obvious sentimental value.

I only have 2 - '76 4001 & '0? Rogue Viola. If I could only keep one, believe it or not, I'd keep the Rogue.

I don't personally care for the way it's set up right now (LaBella flats & a retro fitted Hofner tailpiece makes the string tension too low for my tastes, but right now I need that McCartney thump and this thing delivers in spades.

When I have it set up with roundwounds & the short tailpiece, it's more than versatile enough to cover anything I'd be interested in playing, and after disc surgery last September, I love the weight (or lack of it).

It'd kill me to give up the Ric, but gigging with it for 4 hours some night might do the same thing! :D

no pictures, but if i had to choose, it would be my '99 fender hot-rod precision. it was my first "serious" bass and was bought for me by my grandfather (i eventually paid him back). it's been with me back and forth from WA to CA multiple times and multiple moves. it's not perfect by any means and it could definitely use a professional set-up, but there's just something about the way it feels when i pick it up and play it.

I understand this perspective, so I probably should pick my 2008 Am. Std. Jazz V. It's the lightest, most resonant bass I own, it has very good playability, and it sounds huge.

Problem is, I like my red/maple 2003 Am. Series Jazz four a lot more. It's been my go-to bass since I bought it new in 2003, and with noiseless Lindy Fralin pickups and a drop tuner it covers just about everything. I'm more attached to it than to any other instrument, so I'd have to keep it. My 2007 USA G&L SB-2 would be next up, and if it had a maple fretboard, maybe it would take the number one spot.

Here she is with my favorite guitar, a 2004 MIA Strat with Lace Sensor Hot Golds:

That Bass is Tasty!!!!! The color pops and I'm a fan of maple necks on J's

My Sadowsky NYC is my desert Island bass. It does everything well. Sounds good in any style of music I play and it's comfortable. It's the one bass I have doesn't really make any compromises. OK, I could be a 6.

I have a few 4 strings I like alot but don't have the extra string. A few 6s that sound great, but not in all environments
