I've noticed that there can be quite a bit of variation within the same color too. My Arctic Night is definitely the middle of the night, whereas some look more like Arctic Early Evening.

My Arctic night changes depending on the light. But in the sun it has a purple iridescence hue goin on from certain angles. I’ve tried to get it to pick up in pictures but to no avail. It’s a beautiful color. Second favorite would be @Pedullist MVP5 Charcoal... if I’d known that color was truly as it is in the pictures I’ve seen of his instead of what they’re like on Pedulla’s website, I’d have gone with that color. But overall I’m very happy with my Penta.

Yeah, I was thinking specifically of the Buzz line. This generation of colors does them justice.

Bottle variation is a good thing. May have something to do with the particular slab of wood. All the Arctics are, well, cool. My Penta is caramel AA and in the pics the higher grades of maple look darker.

Michael never knows what to expect either. For this bass I asked for a specific part of wood, not overly striped but with lots of interesting stuff going on. Maybe that's the reason why it's more grey (with brown spots) than brown. The pics I made do represent what it looks like, although it's more spectactular in natural light in real life.

I've got a few photos of my Pentabuzz which reflect the colours. I'm still not satisfied I have captured it accurately...

The multifaceted appearance is quite something. It looks so different depending on the light source.

You can see how mine looks much darker from further away, and then closer up you realize how rich the color really is.

Lord, that arctic night is gorgeous. I also like the smokey, miscellaneous grain on Pedullist's vintage cherry. My doubleA flame has a similar affect. Here's my Pentabuzz in caramel.

These pics try to capture some different lights. Harsh light can be downright unflattering. And I thought you might like the contrast to the koa top on the Rob Allen

Yea...I actually inquired about apprenticing with him, since he's not far from me, and Christine said he has no interest in anything like that. Just from spending some time with him I think the whole thing is too personal for him to pass along.

Oh lord, I'm going to have Technicolor dreams for a week. The only bass I've ever wanted multiples of just for the color.

Ya know, the shots on Michael's site do a fair job of representing the finishes. They just get better in real life.

Two _minor_ things I'd change on mine if I were king of the world: a black output jack (all that pretty color and then POP! ugly aluminum), glossy, rather than matte black pickup cover plastic.

At least the washer and nut are black. Funny... I never once noticed the jack itself was polished aluminum.

I love how much the horns can vary in shape. It's subtle but even in the photos on this page you can tell each bass is unique.
