Yeah buddy +1

Pretty much the same....
1. Four strings
2. Zero batteries
3. Offset (jazz-style) body
4. Jazz neck
5. set of Nordstrand NJ4SVs
6. Stacked knobs
7. Ye Olde Three color sunburst
8. A headstock that matches the neck
9. Maple fingerboard
10. Front jack

On that looks kinda like my old buddy, here:

4-string
Satin finish Silverburst Jaguar body no pickguard
Satin finish, roasted maple Jazz neck w/matching headstock
Rosewood fretboard w/pearl block inlay
34" scale, 24 fret, ( and Zero fret)
2 G&L MFD pickups
Parallel, single coil, OMG switch
Bartolini 3-band EQ preamp
Volume knob
Blend knob
Active/passive switch
Pickup selector switch
Blackout hardware
Hipshot bass Xtender and ultralite tuners
Hipshot kickass bridge
Side mount Strat jackplate
Dulop straplock strap buttons
D'addario chromes

Less than 8.5 lbs (3.85 kg), preferably less than 8 lbs (3.63 kg)
Neck shape anywhere from EBMM Stingray Special 5 to a Sadowsky jazz
TI Flats
Satin or oil-finished neck
That certain something -- I know it when I feel it
Lots of batteries and plenty of available aggression (but the ability to come across soft and caring when it's needed)

Bonus points to basses that don't act like my mom's sewing machine -- the tension is stable and it doesn't go out of adjustment every time you look at it.

Right now, I'd go with
  • Four string Jazz with passive noiseless single coils in 60's position
  • Slim C Jazz neck with 12 inch radius
  • Perfect balance despite being 8lb or less
  • Three knobs - two volume and one tone
  • Daytona or Cobra Blue Metallic
  • Maple fingerboard
  • Front jack
Tomorrow, this will change.

1. Five strings
2. Zero batteries
3. Offset (jazz-style) body
4. Jazz neck
5. One double-coil soapbar humbucker
6. Two knobs - volume and tone
7. Dark Night coloring
8. A headstock that matches the body
9. Rosewood or ebony fingerboard
10. Front jack

What's yours?
Exactly the same!

Except for the offset body. Can’t stand those. Need it symmetrical please.

And definitely not a Jazz style neck. Too skinny at the nut, and too wide at the bridge.

And two soapbars, not one. Or three. Three is fun!

And active. Preferably a filter pre, with one filter per pickup.

And a side jack. Always.

Ebony or Pau Ferro. Or Ziricote. Or Bubinga. Normal rosewood is meh.

But otherwise, you nailed it!

Well, my headstock doesn't match. But I got one that ticks the rest of the boxes. Yea, they're the best.

The perfect bass has………….

Big balls
Never gets lost in the mix
A burping groovy sound that makes people wanna dance
Makes me want to play it again and again

For me, it’s almost any p bass under 8 pounds, Fender Pure Vintage 63 or Vintage 60 hot pickups, round wound strings and a skinny neck that’s easy to play.
