The perfect bass has....

- most comfortable and fastest fretboard for my hands (I'll know it when I try it)
- as light as possible without any neck dive
- low action but long sustain
- stays in tune for a long time
- multiple pickups and tone control
- 24 frets
- glow-in-the-dark side dots
- shape and color that are not unfit for most music genres

1. 4 strings
2. 34” scale
3. 1 5/8 nut
4. No frets
5. GHS Flats
6. Split P pickup
7. 3 Tone Sunburst
8. Tortoise pick guard
9. Rosewood fingerboard

Do I win?

What's yours?
1) Made by a highly talented personal friend as a one-off with my personal preferences considered

2) Unlined fretless, no maple fingerboard please

3) Four strings

4) 2 + 2 angled headstock, no string trees

5) Active electronics, I will roll my own

6) Natural finish, no plastic anything, maybe excepting the nut

7) Not an FSO

And although both of my basses meet all those bullet points, neither one is anywhere close to "perfect", and I like it that way. ;)

1. Four strings
2. Zero batteries
3. Les Paul shaped body
4. Narrow yet fat neck
5. Two stacked low impedance humbuckers
6. Volume, Treble, Bass, Tone Selector switch, Phase selector
7. Dark walnut coloring
8. A 2 x 2 headstock with black face
9. Rosewood fingerboard
10. Side jack

Can you guess which bass? ;-)

1: Five strings
2: 3x2 tuners (or 2x3?) or headless
3: no neck dive
4: gloss poly finish
5: Humbuckers with coil taps, or "noiseless" J-style pups. Either HH, or the MJ thing that the lakland 55-02 has going on
6: Active with passive options
7: narrow neck (~1.75" at nut),
8: makes me good at bass, of course

1. Five strings
2. Zero batteries
3. Offset (jazz-style) body
4. Jazz neck
5. One double-coil soapbar humbucker
6. Two knobs - volume and tone

8. A headstock that matches the body
9. Rosewood or ebony fingerboard
10. Front jack

What's yours?
I have not tried it yet but I think right now the perfect bass has P bass Electronics in a J Bass body, with a J bass neck with graphite reinforcement rods and a compensated nut. I will need 2 though, 1 rounds and one flats.
