Somehow gotten a crazy notion got in my head and I am going to go along with it. in a little less than 4 weeks our church band is going to be without a drummer(the main drummer and the sub drummer are out of town). I know there are a few Bass/Drummers here. does anyone have the tabs or any notes to play these 4 songs?

are you looking for drum tabs? I have truly never seen a drummer use tabs.....they usually do it "by ear"....

Fassa's on TB?!?!?! XD XD XD
Over at UG she's pretty well known (as a troll), but the other day on the "Hugging Thread" she mentioned she was going through a rough time.

Anywho...

Todays the first practice of my reign... I mean, leadership of my youth group's worship band and I'm pretty nervous. Please pray for me and hope that everything goes well. Thanks.

You guys can try Invalid Link Removed I don't promise they will have it because most of what they have is secular, but it might be worth a try. if you have Guitar Pro software, the tabs are there for each instrument played in the song

I have a question for you intelligent people..
Im looking for a new bass.. I have a decent spector right now and love the feel/tone and i cant imagine what a higher end 1 would sound/feel like.. Does any1 have any experience with a Spector Euro 5XL for P&W? Thanks :)

I know drums is mostly a by ear kind of thing. Took some time yesterday and looked up a few drum coves and tabbed out the main parts myself. Looking for someone who plays both and has maybe played those songs for a little guidance.

There's such a thing as drum tabs?!?!? How does that even work? IMO standard notation for percussion instruments is pretty easy to read already, how can you simplify it further?

Yeah there is, and it looks harder to read than standard notation IMO. My guess is that it's just an easy way to get the music on the internet without using Guitar Pro or Power Tab.

Practice went well for a first practice and when I stepped out to listen to the band they sounded awesome.

Hi all!

A while back, I started a discussion here about 5-string basses in a Praise Band setting. Well, long story short, I bought an almost-new SX 5-string from a fellow TB-er, and after spending a little time setting it up, and orienting, I took it to practice tonight!

I will be playing it in Worship for the first time Sunday, should be fun!

Thanks to all for the earlier suggestions!

Dude, good luck with the new axe! Update us and let us know how it went! BTW, how much modding was necessary?

it looks something like this
--|1---2---3---4---||1---2---3---4---|
H |-f-f-f----------||----xx--xx--xx--|
S |---------x--x-x-||----x-------x---|
B |----------------||x-------xx------|
T |----------------||----------------|
C |----------------||x---------------|
R |----------------||----------------|

No modding at all, actually. Straight from the box it was unplayable, though. The strings were dragging the frets from about the 12th fret up, and the pickups were actually touching the strings... All with the bridge set about as high as it would go...

Basically it was assembled, not set up. The neck straightened nicely w/ the truss rod. I lowered the pickups to a reasonable height, adjusted the bridge saddles (height / intonation).... experimented w/ a neck shim, but it turned out to be unnecessary....

The strings that came with it were very "clanky" to my ears, so I replaced them, too.

It took me a while, but that was more a factor of work / life intrusions than the amount of stuff needing done. I did not upgrade the electronics, did not add any sheilding. But all that seems to be pretty good. Last night was the first time I've played it through anything more than my pratice amp, though (Fender Frontman B60).

I thought it sounded pretty good, as did our Worship Leader,

I'm looking forward to playing it Sunday!

It has some "fit & finish" things that I presume are normal SX issues. The pickguard around the neck pocket, the area where the pickguard and control plate match up (or don't match up)... but that's cosmetic...

I'm glad you guys are talking about SXs on here. People seem to be pretty impressed with them for the price.

My son has been bugging me about getting a bass, so we've decided we can shell out $100 or so to get him a short scale bass. Hopefully he'll be a 3rd generation bass player in my family!!! (No pressure, son. :hyper:) This is what we're planning on getting: Link Removed

I like the look of that bass! And pretty cool to have (potentially) a 3rd genration bass player!

I had been following the various discussions on TB about SX, and had been wanting to try them out. And wanting to try a 5-string. And looking at TB-ers selling basses. When all 3 came together I had to jump!

I had a productive practice last night on bass. I am on bass this Saturday for Shabbat service.

The recent spat of practice, as well as applying stuff with the klezmer band, has me feeling a lot better on bass now, than at the beginning of the year. Amazing what playing experience will do for one's actual skill and confidence! :D

I am not on the band schedule to play bass in September due to two major Jewish observances that chance the way we conduct the Erev Shabbat and Shabbat services. This also means I am only on drum set once. A light month for church band stuff coming my way.

I'm on the sound board this weekend. We didn't have our normal practice Wednesday night which I normally use when on sound to set up the board because part of the team was on the men's fishing retreat. So I'll have a half hour practice to get the sound dialed in. At least the guy on the board last week knows how to run the board pretty well.
