The problem with belts.

Hey all,

A quick tread here,

Doe's anyone have problems with there belt, while playing?

After playing a show about 4 months ago, I was cleaning my bass, I notied a tiny little ding on the back, and I knew where it came from, my belt.

Doe's anyone have a story or know about a produce that doesn't ding the bass?

Many turn their belt to one side. Some wear braces (suspenders for You Across The Pond, but that means something entirely different over here........) and I suppose you could always wear trousers with an elasticated waistband!

I cut a scrap of elk hide into a small rectangle and tuck the edge behind my belt buckle so it drapes over the front to cover the sharp edges. I realize not every one has elk hide on hand (my wife and I are leather crafters). You could do the same with a piece of cloth or thin vinyl.

Thanks everyone. Most, most helpfull. Elk hide? that's cool, i could try that with the cloth ir course. (good luck with your leather by the way) Turning the buckle to one side, nice one. Suspenders?! haha!!

Personally I wear my shirt OUTSIDE of my pants, it covers the belt. Oh and I do NOT wear shirts with buttons lower than my chest when plating.

Not elk hide, but I used to do the same thing with a red or blue bandana/handkerchief. Put half behind the buckle, and let the other half drape out over the buckle. Works like a charm. Of course if you're dressed up, and not wearing jeans, it'd look like excrement...

if your bass is rubbing on your belt buckle, your bass is far too high and you're out of the man club.. a few dents on the back of your bass are the least of your worries

I do the move it to one side thing. It's a carry over from my DB playing. Now that I think about it, I don't think my bass can hit my belt for 2 main reasons. 1. I have a gut, 2. i wear my bass high.

So it's a habit from DB playing.
