I got a puppy so I wanted to make a thread for puppies. There's about a million old dog threads if you do a search so I didn't know which to reply to. None seemed very long or all inclusive for puppies. If you have a puppy put it in this puppy thread!

I got Beatrix a few weeks ago. I just call her B. My mom got her brother named Dakoda. They turned 10 weeks yesterday. As of 8 weeks they weighed 17lbs (B) and 20lbs (Dakoda).

This is a lot of fun for me. I've never had a dog that is all mine. I've wanted a Great Dane for a few years but wasn't ever in a good situation to have one. Now I have some time and live in a big house with a big yard (not that it matters, they never get left alone... big babies). It helps that my mom got the brother. I can leave B at my mom's house to be babysat when I need to go work and I can watch Dakoda when my parent's need a break.

B is a black Great Dane female.

(Her eyes only look like this in photos.)

Dakoda is a Harlequin male.

This photo is pretty recent. It doesn't matter, they grow so fast it's impossible to keep up in photos.

B is one cute puppy :)

Anyone here ever read the book Love that Dog by Sharon Creech? I read it and was brought to tears.

My wife and I have 5 dogs: 1 boxer, 1 wolf/husky, 1 pit/retriever, 1 pit/lab, and 1 shephard/beagle (bizarre little fat girl). All are rescues, either from organizations or literally rescued off a busy street. I've always been a dog person, I just didn't know it until my wife started bringing them home :smug:

This is one of the last pictures we have of Thurman. We had to put him down in April. He was 11 1/2. My wife surprised me with him on my birthday during the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl run. Thurman Thomas was my favorite player, thus the name.

So now we have Nemo.

He joined our family on Mothers Day. He's been on a tear ever since. Both literally and figuratively. Now he's almost 4 months old and 40 lbs. I took the kids with me on several trips to visit German Shepherd Dog breeders. My 8 year old commented that with all the driving around, finding the right puppy was a lot like "Finding Nemo", thus the name.

Peace,

James

I got a Chow/Shepherd Mix puppy from the SPCA last October. He's the best EVER :hyper:

Actually, he's the first dog I've ever had as an adult, and we've totally bonded. Follow's me everywhere and is always in a good mood. I love my dog.
