I mean that was a pretty epic instant but I don't think you could have even read what really happened.

In all honesty the things might have been funny but it's nothing to wet your pants over, stop getting so into it and caring so much about past things on tb.

And I also think if you don't know the guy it's odd to contact him, and annoying, he must have just wanted to sign off to avoid talking to you.

Meev wasn't here for TQ (bc), he wasn't here for "the boy", he wasn't here for NTB (which in my opinion was more entertaining than either of the others), nor was he here for a few other jollies in the past.

I joined here in '02 (crap I'm getting old!!!). I'm sure stuff happened that was immensely entertaining before my time. The thing is, I couldn't care less. The desire to whore myself out to fit in was never an option for me for two reasons: I had no desire to be "that guy", and I knew people would see right through my lame attempts.

Meev, I like you dude, but all your "what can I do for these guys to like me" attempts are being immensely counterproductive, IMO. :rolleyes:

Indeed, never really had a one on one with the guy, but from what I've seen he's a nice chap, but tries just a little too hard. I've been thinking that for about the past week or two now.

Be yourself, no need to kiss butts round here. We're all nice guys (excluding Latimore, just kidding man :D) and I honestly don't think anyone cares how long you've been here. Except for a few who snapped at me when I said OT is going downhill. Seeing as I've only been here a couple of years. But IMO TalkBass has changed rather dramatically in the last two years.

This is what spurred my comparison to ****boy last night. For the record, I liked him too. But you share some characteristics that led me to believe something like this would happen. The rapidly accumulated post count, immersing yourself immediately in the "history" and inside jokes of TB, and efforts to be friendly which others might see as forced. In both cases, warranted or not, a backlash develops.

It reminds me a bit of my sister-in-law, who upon first meeting her acted like we were already old friends/family which had the opposite effect she intended of making the rest of us uncomfortable around her. She was really trying hard to be liked when what she needed to do was just relax and let us get to know her.
