I had the opposite - I didn't realize how much stuff I threw out or had to be thrown out. I still don't have a bed yet and my sofa wouldn't fit through the door, so it's being sold for something smaller, 1/6th the weight, and more modern looking.
You have my condolences. I've done a move from Texas to Missouri (and back) but can't imagine a coast to coast haul.
HUGE +1. That's my plan if I ever have to do another out of state move/relocation.
When I moved from the UK to the US we had no plans to buy everything new....
