In the post Ww2 period, Ho Chi Minh actually wanted Vietnam to become some kind of associate member part of the USA !
He punted this to Roosevelt apparently, who didn't even dignify it with an answer....perhaps not a very smart move as it turned out.

Ho Chi Minh secretly used to take a holiday job in a department store, as a kid's Santa Claus....
He was referred to as ..Ho-Ho-Ho Chi Minh.... ( sorry..)

There was an article in a 40s 50s mag or some such where Lester Young took you through the process of converting the basic hat into a PP as worn by his good self....and even the best place to buy the donor hat...ideally not from some lame hat shop in a white neighborhood he advised.
Lester aparently had a little cat he took round everywhere with him too, wish I could locate these , I had them saved on some long defunct computer
