I like my 2001 trans red 4004cii. At 8 pounds it is really comfortable to play and I just converted it to a 5 string bass. Pics coming soon.
Pics will have to wait a bit I'm afraid, i am a bit under the weather for a little while, here, but there will be some. The white goes great with our new kitchen which I also need to photograph, but for that I need either a wider lens or a FF sensor body to take full advantage of my 17-40/4L lens. I do have a couple of photos of the kitchen (while still in construction mode) that will have to stand in for now.

Then again, my 4003 and my GMC Sierra are both painted in a finish the manufacturers call "Midnight Blue"... The GMC version is not quite the same color as the RIC version, though.

I'd like to take one of these and put in 2 Classic Amp toaster single coil pickups, wire it with stacked pots and make it a 5 string bass.

There are 5 used rics on musiciansfriends site. Right now there is 15% off used basses, that makes one of the jetglo's $1,334.54. Some of the used stuff is fine and was just returned and thus marked used.
Not prepared to join the Club; unless I could reserve # 319 .

Oooo ... I should buy that 4003 and convert it to a 5er.
With everybodies health insurance going up there will be deals on basses.
My feeling's too. I'm sure somebody gave me a number.........I have no clue what it is.

Wouldn't it be cool if Rickenbacker would do some new colors like white pearl? Or offer the 4004 with single coil pickups and stacked pots? Or even better if they made a proper 5 string bass?
I have Rickenbacker on the brain lately. Never played one before and I was dying to try one out. One of the guitar players in my band invited his friend over to our jam last night and he brought along his (2012) 4003 Jetglo. I knew nothing about it and he's like "Here, use this tonight." Played for 3 hours through my OrangeTB500/SP212 rig and all I can say is that I absolutely got to have one. Pretty sure this is my definite first experience with full on GAS. And the only cure is a Rickenbacker.
Now you know what all the fuss is about!
