I'm hoping to get an NS Design CR5 and a preamp to compliment it.
I recorded and toured for a decade simply using a Sansamp BDDI v1 and letting the engineer do the rest, which wasnt much more than adding a limiter/compressor and some EQ'ing to my signal. I usually played an Ibby SR505 and a Carvin LB75.
I like scooped sounds with hard punching low mids, deep lows, and clear but tame highs.
I was looking at the VT Bass DI but I really dont like that sound.
Cali76 et al are also not my cup of tea.
I prefer the sound of the scooped Modulus Q5 on Iced Earth's albums.
I like GK RB series amps with the Boost all the way up, but not a big fan when Boost is off.
I'm looking at a few products and would love some feedback, suggestions, just any general discussion on the topic.
I like the idea of Aux IN / Headphone out, but I have an Ampeg Rocketbass RB10 as a practice amo that has Aux/Headphone and DI. So what I am looking for doesn't have to be a DI nor does it have to have Aux/Headphone capabilities.

I like the sound of the Messa Subway DI's but are they going to rerelease them? Or is there a new DI/Pre in the works they're looking at releasing soon?

The GR Bass Dual Pre looks epic. I like the sounds in the demos and I like the parallel channels working together. Not too many reviews or demos on these, but what Ive seen/heard, this is at the top of my list.

Trondheim's SkarbassOne has really cool sounds - I have grown to like filters more than traditional EQ'ing and it just seems to work.

Bergantino Super Pre. Im usually a meat and potatoes, analogue guy. But this one seems pretty convincing so far. And I like the adjustable EQ points and adjustable HPF/LPF. A but out of my price range, but you only live once.

Two Notes Revolt. Excellent sounds. Limited EQ, but that's.aybe excusable by sounding great. I hear great results with changing out the 12ax7 for a lower output tube.

Dicossimo or Master Effects GK clone pedal. Both of these sound near-perfect. The Plex logically would be a better choice on paper being that its supposed to do the GK RB sounds plus more. Just, I haven't seen any YT videos that nail that RB rails sound like the 2 cheaper clone pedals do.

2)Tech 21 Programmable - is this the same as the BDDI v1 but just with programmable features? It seems like Tech 21 turned their back on the BDDI v1 in favor of the v2 and so everything since then is modeled after the v2 - which I really dont like the sound of. Tech 21 told me that I could get v1 sounds from the dUg and from the new XB Driver, but again Im hearing more VT/v2 sounds from the YT demos Ive seen.
3) Source Audio SEQ2. People seem to really like this and can be programmed to be an HPF/LPF with its programmable EQ and Q points.
4)Brought Audio. Messenger (Jr) or REQ.
