The screen-printing appreciation thread

Who loves screen-printing here?

I started learning about four months ago, and I find it amazing. Aside from bringing us most tees we wear, this method is a great tool for arts and design I'm not yet aware of who is hot, who is not, into the world of serigraphy, so it would be interesting to know who you guys appreciate, too.

Here's two of my beginner works.

i did some of that in high school
very basic obviously, no more than like 2 layers, 3 at most.

it was fun, and ive wanted to my own bands shirts

Ah, we have a "no clothing" rule, for the choice of support. It's mainly a technical course, except for the two last projects, and our professor doesn't want us to be biased by an intent other than what we should work on.

i screenprinted myself a black flag & a hunter s thompson tshirt.

though i used a very rudimentary DIY screenprinting application. Not nearly as cool as the ones you did L-A

Cool stuff. We had an excellent screen printing program in my high school- I think I may have destroyed half of my brain with all the xylol we had to use. Doing the photo emulsion prints was certainly fun. We tried all sorts of printing methods, but I remember photo emulsion stuff most because the green film goo was the most annoying to remove. I won a state award for a print I did way back then- I forgot what type of print it was called, but it involved using crayons to block off consecutive layers of print colors. All hand-drawn stuff, and pretty difficult to do as doing any sort of detail work on a flexible screen using a crayon is no fun Looking at it now, I don't think it's very good compared to the other types of prints I was doing back then.

I hear ya. The crayon and the blue "paint" feel pretty awkward.

Screen-Printing is actually my day job right now (and for the past 5 years).
It's all t-shirts and whatnot, and fun to do when I'm not totally stressed out about deadlines and stuff not working (which is often, unfortunately).
When I have the time, I do get to do all my band merch, though.
