The Song You Hate Most to Play

Song 2 = absolute pile of dog crap.

Every rose has its thorn = nauseating

Desire by U2 would be my least favourite song in our current set lists. Working very hard to get it ditched.

The lads in my band have been told that if they want to play 'Play that funky music', the door won't hit me on the backside when I leave.

I'd rather play Shook me all night long, all night long, than any of those four.

I would say Sweet Home or Gimme Three Steps, but I can't hate playing something if I refuse to play it (I'm 10 years Skynyrd free!).

Sooo...of songs I actually do play occasionally, I'll say White Rabbit. Man, I hate playing that one.

I'd rather play Brown Eyed Girl or Moondance for four hours straight than Sweet Home Alabama once....can't imagine any bass player wanting to play SHA. Perhaps if I listened to SHA carefully I might notice some subtleties in the bassline that I've been missing, but my projectile vomiting would probably interfere with my concentration.

LOL @ projectile vomit...classic! The song I hate playing most is Jessie's Girl. The chicks love it and it usually gets a lot of drunk girls grinding all over each other...so I put up with it.

:D

Agree with Jessie's Girl. I too am a whore when it comes to playing lame a$$ songs that gets the booty on the floor.

Another song I really loathe playing- Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Meh!

Despite my dislike for Skynyrd, much of their stuff has some fairly decent bass work.

Leon's parts sound deceptively simple. Until you try to cover them.

That band has alot of history and has always fascinated me. Those who dismiss the songs? I don't get it. Sweet Home Alabama is a great song, its just that many of us have heard it a time or two too many. Bar patron's love that stuff. Why? Because its a great song.

FREEEE BIIIRRRRD!

;)

Moondance.

Typically I do a massively overblown Smoke On The Water quote during the bass solo. But then, I do tend to do that on many cover tunes I dislike.;)

Hey, Moondance is another one of those great songs... Clams and all! Why wouldn't a bass player dig playing that stuff?

"Massively overblown Smoke on the Water" ??
No one gets that but you. I'd love to see you do it. I'd buy you a beer even and then ask "Whats up with that?"

Ball and Chain by Social Distortion. Same reason we all hate Sweet Home Alabama...same three notes all song long, and if that wasn't enough, you have the short pauses for vocals at the end of the choruses.

I could just feel my bass looking up at me. I feel ashamed to have to put her through that boredom.

Because of the psycho girlfriend who played it 86,762 times in a row.

Because of the hack-butchered versions that every band I've played it with offer up.

Because blowing over those changes is a highly unsatisfying faux-jazz experience in the contexts I've had to play it in.

I could keep going all day, but you get the idea.;)

Au contraire. I wear my ennui on my sleeve for all the world to see. And of course, that begets people wanting to see me do it again and again, which ain't happening.

Read this whole thread (and had some good laughs!), and nobody mentioned the song I least like playing....which is The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. I still have no earthly idea how that made it into our set list but I think I've successfully extracted it by "forgetting" to include it when I printed the setlists for our last few shows. So far so good...so shhhhhhh!

Yeah. I get what your sayin loud and clear. Really. Ever think of selling used cars, or maybe getting into the insurance business instead of all this crummy bass stuff?

Sigh.
