Here is one of my favorite soul Christmas Songs by Marvin Gaye . The Funk Brothers are the musicians . So Jamerson is working his magic on this track. That bass is beautiful !! It was listening to this song 3 Christmas ago that made me realize I need to keep a PBass with TI flats in my stable .
So I bought this one as a gift to myself.

Don't know the bass player for Latimore, but Clarence Williams was a bass for Tex's backing band at that time. Sounds like you were playing the same tunes as I back then ;).

I think it is the late Ron Bogdon who played with Latimore and Betty Wright among others.

Very cool bass there for sure. This version also caused me to look up the origin of the song, which I only knew about through Blood Sweat & Tears. Turns out Brenda and her sister Patrice cowrote the song with Frank Wilson and Berry Gordy.

This is the first hit vocal version with lyrics written by Watson and Williams:

It was a #27 hit on the R&B charts.

The first version I ever heard was the Buckinghams version though.
