I got the picture froma site with several other pictures done ina similar fashion, so most likely not, but who knows, and either way, does it actually matter?
Easy there, it's not a personal reflection on you at all. This is just a goof-off Trek thread in OT, yes?

The known fact is that it was published as a special edition variant cover of Esquire when the JJ trek people announced Zachary Quinto as the new Spock in '09. From the image of the cover itself, the magazine credited the image to artist Noma Bar (supertitle above the Esquire logo; click twice to embiggen). Bar's work has shown up in a lot of places, including multiple covers of other magazines and printed publications.

It's also worth noting that where it appears on Bar's own official website, he includes the Esquire masthead within the work. That said, he also displays a variant of the graphic, minus the white outline of the "face" area, for a different publication. (Both of these samples are linked directly from Bar's website; Again, click for larger, or see them as they appear at the links in this paragraph.)

So there's the published source and credit, including from the artist himself.

If you got "your" variant from Noma Bar, great. If not, then no, it doesn't particularly matter. People on the internet - and Trek fans in particular - snatch up and tweak stuff all the time.

I've done plenty of it myself, in this thread alone... 😜

We now return you to your regularly scheduled goofy Trek fun.

Digging into it some more, it looks like that variant cover may have been a UK edition option. The cover of the US May 2009 edition of Esquire features George Clooney's mug wedged up next to the camera, with the only "JJ Trek" content within being a short profile of a semi-clad Zoe Saldana. (Not that I'm complaining, necessarily, but still...)

Here's the Quinto cover of the UK edition, and the instances within featuring the Noma Bar graphic. (Click to embiggen, and again to embiggen further.)

For those who... (~hurk~ )... actually like the JJ Trek spectacle, a stripped-down PDF of the mag including the feature writeup is attached below.

JJ!! Shaky hand cam trash...
Y'know what? I generally ignore the Hollywood PR machine, and whatever canned "interview" junket juice they squeeze out to be regurgitated by media outlets suckling at the fetid teat of the industry beast. So there was a lot in the run-up to that "reboot" to which I paid no mind. Thus, out of curiosity, since I'd looked up that Esquire issue, I read through their piece just to see if there was something I'd missed. Turns out there was!

JJ Abrams straight-up admitted he had absolutely no business anywhere near this property in the first place:

JJ Abrams is a Brainless Idiot.jpg

JJ Abrams cops to turning Trek into a franchise by morons, for morons, because that's what he wanted to see.

I knew the guy's take on this sucked, but I wasn't aware he actually likes things to suck on purpose.

:wacky:

Happy 94th William Shatner!

"As I complete my 94th lap around the sun, I am filled with the wonder and awe of life. Thank you, my friends, for making my life so special," Shatner wrote.”
