I was gypped. Mine a few months ago came in a box with no bag. Obviously, this is going to sound much better, having had more care since birth.
Indeed. My very first two SB pedals didn't even come in boxes, so I figure they must sound more "raw" than the later models
It's something I just started doing a couple months ago. They were just wrapped in bubble wrapped and placed in the shipping box for many months, then several months ago I started double boxing with the stamped white boxes, and I think the black velvet bags only started a couple months ago. Seemed like a classy way to keep them safe.
On that note bigger boxes (Dr. Wattson size) were in plainer fabric bags last month, and this month I found black velvet bags the right size for them. I haven't found any bags that fit Smoke Signal yet, but I'm looking.
I do hope you know I was joking. Presentation is a large part of selling, as long as service is good, which it is. I still admire the presentation Chase Bliss gave my Condor, in it’s little wooden box.

I haven’t had much time to play over the last few weeks, but today I finally got to spend a couple hours with my handwired Slampegg. I haven’t don’t a direct comparison against the SMD yet, but the HW is wonderful. The added headroom is noticeable, and I get a great smooth sound with 100% gain. I also find having the Lo and Hi switches off seems much better than the SMD (which sounded a bit harsh without Lo enabled). This pedal gives me everything I’d want from any expensive tube DI. Can’t wait to try out all the other pedals I have coming over the next 2 months (HW UA, HW Lab Rat, JC Emerald, and HW Dr Wattson).
Let me know what you think between the Slampegg and the Dr Wattson…I was debating between those for my next, although I’d rather the SBVT instead of the Slampegg, but it will just depend on the moment.

I will continue to do what I can to make things look nice and professional (UV printer, powdercoating, velvet bags, white boxes, custom packing tape, etc.) but the main focus has always been and will always be the quality of the product itself, and I think for the most part my customers are on the same page.By the way I got home about 3 hours ago from the trip, it's good to be back in the basement. My wife took some of the driving duties so I got some sleep and feel surprisingly well-rested, so I'll probably get some pedal work done tonight. Hoping to get the May batch finished up before I leave for NAMM on Thursday, then I'll start on the June batch when I get back. The majority of the parts for June have already showed up so I have plenty to get started.
Anyway, digging through a mountain of emails and messages now, I'll be generally around tonight.
